Do you need to repair your European or other import car? Lydell Motors at 400 State Street in North Haven has specialized in those vehicles since 1953.
Present owner, Mark Lydell took over Lydell Motors from his father in 1983. It was around then they were chosen as a certified Bosch Service Center Pilot Program. This was key to becoming one of the leading European shops in the area. Mark made the investment in specialized tools and equipment which positioned Lydell Motors to properly diagnose, evaluate and repair European vehicles. In 1988, Mark added to his building and today they have three bays and another area that can fit an additional four cars. They also specialize in Asian vehicles, repairing Toyota, Nissan and Lexus high end vehicles. "We can maintain import vehicles of every make and model," says Mark. "We are constantly learning and improving, making us the leading import car experts in the business!"
People who own high end European and Asian vehicles, know Lydell Motors as a "suspension shop." This is where they "set up" the suspension of the vehicle to achieve peak performance. The caster, camber and tow are integral aspects of the suspension," says Mark. "It's time consuming to set this up correctly and our customers entrust us to do it right."
Lydell Motors has a lot of experience setting up vehicles for peak performance; Mark was in the racing circuit for 20 years. He raced mainly F-production cars at Lauden, Lime Rock, Watkins Glen, Thompson Motor Speedway and others. He and his brother, Kurt built MGs for the track, which would achieve speeds of 140 mph on straightaways. "Every track is different," says Mark, "and this is where we would set up the suspension to best suit each track."
It is this in-depth experience that translates to quality service at Lydell Motors. "We provide personalized service at a reasonable price," says Mark. "Because of our attention to detail, people who love their cars, bring them to us for repair. The next time your vehicle needs service, why not give us a try!"
